This is the best place to start on the road to energy efficiency. In order for us to know what information would be
most relevant to you we would ask you to complete our Home Energy Check. When this is returned we will respond to you via land mail.
Financial Guidance
There are many different ways to fund energy efficiency improvements to your home such as improving insulation,
heating or lighting. Some take the form of direct grant aid while others take the form of interest free loans.
Help for Low-income Households
Fuel poverty remains a problem for many households in the UK. Many households live in cold,
damp houses which they cannot afford to heat adequately. The East Midlands Regional Affordable
Warmth Action Plan provides a planned, comprehensive regional approach to reduce fuel poverty

How to Choose your Gas or Electricity Company
With the deregulation of the gas and electricity companies it has become difficult to know how to
choose which company provides the best service for you. Our guide can show you how to choose the
company that suits you best. We can also give you information on electricity from clean, renewable
sources, which don't lead to pollution normally associated with other power stations.
Energy Saving Recommended
Energy Saving Recommended is the endorsement scheme of the Energy Saving Trust.
The ESR scheme aims to highlight 'best in class' products regarding minimal energy consumption
for consumer products such as fridges, freezers, washing machines and heating boilers, etc.

Renewable Energy
We can give advice on how to use clean, renewable forms of energy to heat your home,
your hot water and provide all your electricity needs.
We are also promoting Green Electricity. Electricity generated from renewable sources.
There are many ways that you can generate your own energy at home from renewable and
replaceable sources such as wind, sun and crops. Solar PV, solar water heating and
small-scale wind or biomass heating is all available. Installation costs and the amount
of energy produced vary. The DTI has a Low carbon building programme which provides grants
for micro generation technologies for householders, community organisations, schools, the
public sector and businesses. The programme will run for three years, starting from 1 April

The Energy Efficiency Advice Centre is promoting the provision of ELECTRICITY FROM
RENEWABLE SOURCES to households in the East Midlands.
One of the easiest ways to contribute to the use of renewable technologies is to switch
to a green electricity tariff from your energy supplier. Green supply tariffs mean that
your supplier matches a percentage of the energy you use with electricity from a renewable source.
Green fund tariffs mean that you pay a premium which the energy supplier invests in renewable
